I am so excited to be at South Pines and be a SPACE teacher! This is my 5th year teaching 5th grade. I graduated from Washington State University with a BA in Elementary Education & obtained my masters in Mathematics Education last summer. I am getting married September 22 and will officially become Mrs. Enquist. I am obsessed with my golden retriever, Murphy, and my black lab, Colby. I am a die hard WSU Coug fan! My favorites include time with my family, crafting, Priest Lake & coffee! This year is going to be so GREAT!
Hi, my name is Katie Swanson. I’m so excited to be part of the SPACE program! I received my teaching degree with an endorsement in Reading from Eastern Washington University. I have also earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Reading from Walden University. I taught for two years in Toppenish, WA, and then for 10 years in Post Falls, ID. This will be my third year here at South Pines. Surprisingly, I have taught third grade for all of those years! My husband and I have two boys. Silas is 7 years old and Lincoln is 5. As a family, we love to hike and spend time at our cabin in the woods. I also love to read when I get a few quiet moments to myself.
My name is Casey Ferguson and I am looking forward to working with you this year at South Pines Elementary School. This will be my third year as a full-time teacher after graduating from Washington State University Vancouver in the Spring of 2016. I was born in Eastern Montana but relocated to Washington in 2000 and have made this state my home ever since. I recently moved to the great Spokane area from Vancouver Washington with my girlfriend to be closer to extended family that live in the area. My hobbies include golfing, hiking, fishing, boating, reading, learning, snowmobiling, and camping.
I graduated from CWU and have a masters in teaching from EWU. I have been teaching since 1996. This is my 10th year in 2nd grade. I have a daughter named Ellie who is 14, a son named Carl who is 7 and my nephew Jaxon lives with me and he is 10. I love the beach, reading, camping, and spending time with my children and dogs. I enjoy teaching SPACE because of the home/school connection between families.
I graduated from Eastern Washington University with a BA in education accompanied with a reading endorsement and music minor. Currently, I am in the process of obtaining my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in Common Core leadership. This year will be my thirteenth year of teaching. I taught a year of preschool, subbed K-8, and this will be my eleventh year of teaching first grade. Teaching first grade has been such a joy. It is unlike any other year. The growth is tremendous, and it is so fun to be a part of their learning. Teaching is not only a job for me. It is also a hobby. I feel truly blessed to wake up every morning and go to a job I love!
